Delhi, 24th June 2019:
Urban Company, India’s largest services marketplace, today, announced the launch of its services in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi. With this move, Abu Dhabi becomes the second city in the UAE where Urban Company launched its on-demand home services followed by launch in Dubai last year. With the launch in Abu Dhabi, Urban Company now provides its services across 10 cities in India and 2 cities in the UAE (Dubai).
Abu Dhabi is a major cultural and commercial centre with over 200 nationalities residing in the city who form a considerable population of expatriates. The Middle East as a market is highly developed which provides a high-paced lifestyle, enjoys significant infrastructure capabilities and regulations. Therefore, the company plans to initiate operations in Abu Dhabi with over 20 service partners by offering five services: deep cleaning, maid, pest control, handymen and AC servicing and repair, with home painting and Packers & Movers to be added soon.
Commenting on the expansion to Abu Dhabi, Abhiraj Bhal Co-founder of Urban Company said, _“We are ecstatic about the expansion of Urban Company’s footprint in the UAE by entering Abu Dhabi. With the capital city being a consumer heavy market and willing to lookout for quality home services – the decision is the right move towards further expansion in UAE. Additionally, Abu Dhabi has a large pool of service professionals available who are not yet online. This is a huge opportunity for Urban Company to explore the market and tap into this latent talent and enable them to be independent micro-entrepreneurs in the coming five years – hence reimagining how we have consumed services so far.”
Having launched in Dubai in April 2018, Urban Company’s popularity has grown quickly in the Emirate and has become the go-to solution for solving household needs. With the expansion of business into Abu Dhabi, Urban Company aims to grow it’s UAE business 2x month on month. The platform is already empowering over 100+ businesses and has strategic plans to expand to other GCC countries in the coming months.
