Okay so this will be a long review of what exactly the so called makeup looked like. The makeup made me look so so dark. It was a smoky eye make up that I had requested her to make but she made my whole face look smoky and dark..everyone was disappointed. The photos in my maternity photoshoot came out horrible as I was looking very dark. The lipstick color she put was darker which was not absolutely going with the makeup. I had to change the lip color. High end Makeup products like kryolan were promised but she used swiss beauty which made the makeup look very caky, and patchy. Very very disappointed. I don't want to say anything negative about her behaviour as it was fine but her makeup didn't look like she was a professional make up artist. This was my maternity shoot and I was truly disappointed that my 2300 bucks got wasted out of nothing. I could have managed this on my own, I put on my own lens and eye lashes too. Also , the hairstyle she made, was very basic. She didn't use any curler or straightener . It was not a single bit close to what I had asked her to make. Instead without that hairstyle, my hair looked fluffier and prettier. Never gonna book again.. had a pretty bad experience. Thanks..

She has used beauty filtered camera to enhace the makeup look which is very different from actual look. She doesn't know how to drape a saree.. she did not fixed the drape with proper safety pins and it came out during the event. Even after telling her multiple times that its loose she didn't cared. All jewellery fixed by her maangtika was also loosely fixed it came to my eyebrows after 30 minss. Dupatta was also loosely fixed, kamarband was also loose earchain was also loose... Draping the saree was pathetic... Everything i told her during her presence but she kept on saying this will be fixed in the last and last minute she left saying it will be like this otherwise your body will not be comfortable hair accessories also was loosely fixed... Hair braid useless Makeup .. makeup was dull i have told my skin shade still it was very dull she was not using her products properly I have used my own products in order to make it look Except the foundation everything else used was not high brand. Overall she was in hurry and didn't want to use her products and accessories. And so she ruined my special day. Not even 1 task was done properly.. how she is qualified to do the luxe package... I have my own lashes but she refused to put on the lashes Eyeliner was transparent I am tired of typing but the list goes on... She has not combed the hair also Kanjoos

How to Prepare Before I Get My Makeup Done

If you have a favourite lipstick or any other makeup product you love, carry it along so that the MUA can use it on you.

If you’re getting ready at the venue, ensure your packed your outfit, jewellery, footwear and button down shirt before you leave the house.

If you’re having your saree or dupatta draped, do find reference photos of the draping style you want as well.

Find photos of makeup and hairstyles you like for reference - to share with your party MUA so that they can easily understand your preferences. However, do trust them to know what style will suit your skin type and face shape as well, plus complement your outfit.

Do NOT get a facial done in the 1-2 days before your makeup session as one should not get makeup done immediately after that.

Keep your face moisturised as it helps the makeup to go on smoothly and primes the face so that the makeup doesn’t look cakey (dry skin equals flaking makeup)

Find a button down shirt or top to wear (and put your blouse on beforehand) so that you don’t ruin your makeup and hair when you’re changing.

You should also prepare a mini touch-up kit with pins, blotting paper, lipstick, moisturiser, foundation and concealer to touch-up at the venue if you need to.

How to get the most out of your Party Makeup Artist Booking

Check for dry patches where the makeup is flaking. If there are any, ask the MUA to gently dab moisturiser on the area and correct it.

Finally, you can ensure your kajal stays on for longer by using a cotton bud to dry your waterline before applying kajal. And ensure primer is applied on your face and over the eyelids before the makeup goes on to help it last longer.

Talk about your preferences with your makeup artist - show her photographs of what you like.

While the makeup artist is getting you ready, feel free to share any worries you might have. Don’t wait till everything is done and then say what you wanted because it’s easier for the MUA to change or fix something as she goes. You most likely will not have time to get it redone later.

If the makeup does not meet your expectations, go ahead and ask the makeup artist to either tone it down or make it bolder.

Check that the colour of your face, neck and back are the same. If not, remind the MUA to apply foundation on all exposed skin.

Check if blemishes, acne marks and pimples are covered to your satisfaction. However, do understand that it’s not possible to completely cover them without making it look unnatural.

Feel free to tell your MUA what you don’t want. For example, you may not want eyelash extensions or a dramatic winged liner - just tell the artist it’s not something you like. She will respect your wishes.

Check if your hairstyle is holding up well and in place - move your head around to check it’s not opening up

For your hairstyle, it’s important to take note of your comfort level. If a pin is tugging and uncomfortable, tell your hairstylist so that they can move the pins around.

For sari draping, do the same thing and move around to check that the pleats don’t open and that it’s easy to sit and stand without opening up the sari.
